Abingdon plein air painter Kyle Buckland has been commissioned by the Southwest Virginia Higher Education Center to paint a series of paintings which he calls "Nestled In". The painting at the right is from a series of studies depicting our region nestled in between the Clinch and Holston Mountains. The largest canvas in the suite will be four foot by five foot. Stay tuned.

This Is Not The South
This Is Not The Southis an independent film produced entirely in Southwest Virginia using local artists. Written and directed by Derek Davidson. Produced by Karen Sabo. Starring Frank Green, Kirstie Sensky, Ryan Perry, John Hardy, Rick McVey and Scott Koenig. The iconic image at right was used extensively throughout the film and was painted by Barter Theatre's Derek Smith.
